Project: The Gavin Family Documentary

Date: March 2022

  • Child Actor: Saturday March 12th (Half day)
  • One Adult Male: Saturday March 5th (Half day) PUEBLO 
  • Two Adult Male Actors: for full day March 11th and March 12th, half day March 10th. (March 12th may only require one)

Location: Colorado Springs/Pueblo

Talent:

  • Two – Three males mid to late 20’s
  • 10yo female who can play 8+. No lines but will be emotionally dramatic content.

Synopsis: The Galvin Family Documentary (WT) follows the incredible story of one Colorado Springs family and their journey through severe mental illness. We explore how schizophrenia has affected directly and indirectly the entire family from 1960s through to present day. This is a 4x1hr series for Discovery + and is a mix of personal interviews with the surviving family members, their community, experts and health professionals. To complement the interviews we are filming b-roll and stylized visualizations.

 Requirements: Looking for two male actors in their mid-to-late 20s to represent two of the Galvin brothers prior to schizophrenia taking hold and the points that psychosis and medication took hold. They will not be recognizable in the shots, and will be filmed to be discreet shapes/bodies to help add atmosphere and character. They will not be required to talk. We require people with short hair, and of a slim to medium build. Average height. 5ft 10 upwards.

Also looking for one 10yr old female girl who can play 8+ yrs old. Long straight, blonde hair preferred. They will not be recognizable in the filming and their face will not be shown, they will not be required to talk. Please note, the content filmed may be used when talking about serious sexual, emotional and physical abuse. Whilst none of the filming with this actor will directly depict this content, the final shots will be used in this context. At no point will the crew need to discuss the context when on set.

 All actors need to be happy to take direction and be able to walk and move in a variety of ways.

Wardrobe: Male actors… they need to wear plain clothing without logos, jeans and woollen jumper. Footwear – NO modern trainers. Child needs to wear plain clothing without logos, jeans and warm outerwear. Please also bring plain dresses. Footwear – NO modern trainers.
