SYNOPSIS:

This timeless coming of age story is about a young man that dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. From his humble beginnings, being raised on a farm, the hero’s journey transports the audience through his trials and tribulations that propels him into an inner world where he can claim victory over his most notorious enemy.

 

SPEAKING/DAY PLAYER ROLES: 

All speaking roles are paid. $130 per day for non-union actors. These roles will require self-tapes. I can send sides and audition information. Non Speaking roles will get reel content.

 

1)  Frank Williams, (22-32) ( Caucasian)  x1 day 

Frank is Hardy’s dad. He has a love for baseball and is a kind, stoic father to Hardy, the main character in the story.

 

2)  Coach Carl ( 40-50) (African-American, Hispanic)  x5 days 

Coach Carl is a travel league baseball coach who underneath his thick skin facade is a man with compassion who wants all his players to reach their full potential.  

 

3)  Tommy the diner owner (60s, Person of color) x1 day 

Tommy owns a local diner that has hit hard times financially because of a slowed economy. He must tell his only employee/family friend, Abby, that he’s shutting down the business.  A kind, generous man that knows it’s time to retire and enjoy his life with his wife on the road traveling.  

 

4) Haley – game announcer (20s any ethnicity, female) x1 day 

A play-by-play baseball announcer in the biggest game of the year. Charismatic and well versed in baseball strategy and terminology.

 

5)  Adam – the equipment manager (18-24 any ethnicity) x2-5 days  

Adam is the equipment manager for a baseball travel league team.  He is on the spectrum, perhaps even a savant. He understands physics on a deep level and relates his understanding to how it is integrated in the game of baseball.  

 

6) Lou – the banker (50/60s) (African-American) x1 day 

Lou is a banker at a small branch in a small, rural community. He and his father both served in the marine corp.  He wants to help a widow save her home from foreclosure.

 

NON-SPEAKING ROLES (all x1 day):

*Nonspeaking roles are not paid roles.  We have some volunteers/family/friends ready to step in for these parts. However, if you have any clients interested in participating for experience, we’d love to have them.

No auditions are needed for these parts. Just headshot.   

  1. Young Hardy (age 5-8) Caucasian – Must be able to swing a baseball bat,  show emotions of joy (smile) and terror (frown, cry)
  2. Clayton (age 21-25)  assistant coach, a person of color / or caucasian       
  3. 12 Ballplayers (any ethnicity) 
  4. Man at diner (age 60-80)  preferably person of color   
  5. Pawn Shop Clerk (age 30-60)  ( any ethnicity, male)
  6. Convenience Store Clerk (age 30-45) (any ethnicity)
  7. Baseball scout (age 30-50) (any ethnicity)
  8. Umpire age 25-60, (any ethnicity, preferably African American)
  9. Townspeople (passerbys) x5 (will be featured) 
  10. Baseball players (teen boys) x30 *We are currently working with actual teams and may get these players through leagues.
  11. Extras at the baseball games x30 (these extras will be featured)
