Hey guys! My name is Julie Zhu and I want to thank you for taking the time to explore my profile through Cathexis Talent!   I’m a 28-year-old Austin, Texas native who moved to Denver in 2015 so that I could get better at snowboarding. Since moving to Colorado, I’ve discovered a love for rock climbing (you can find me at Earthtreks or outdoors!) and I am currently working on renovating a Dodge Promaster camper van with my boyfriend which has really elevated our camping experience! Other than playing in the mountains, I love international travel, going on road trips, listening to podcasts, attending music festivals, visiting art museums and developing new skillsets. I’m currently learning how to code,  gaining experience in acting and getting better at juggling. My interests also include astrology, spiritual self-development, wellness, and living your life with purpose. I’m also a dog mom to my two babies Ted (golden retriever) and Mellie (welsh pembroke corgi) and love taking these two out for a swim! I love to be active, however, I’m also a huge fan for some reality tv and a good show to binge on Netflix. You will find that I’m a friendly, open minded individual who is dependable and productive.

A little about my education and work experience, I graduated with a master’s degree in social work from Arizona State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in social work from University of North Texas. I currently work as a medical social worker at a home health agency in Denver and working to obtain clinical hours to obtain my LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker). What I love about home health is that it allows you to build your own schedule, which allows me the flexibility to work on multiple projects at once. I have social work experience working with at-risk youths, women who were previously involved in sex trafficking, offenders of domestic violence and children and families involved in the child welfare system. I’ve held different roles such as case manager, therapist, mental health counselor and group facilitator. My style of work and philosophy for growth is focused on the cultivation of a positive relationship with the “self” and the integration of components for the body, mind and soul. I really identify with the values in social work and my belief is that everyone on this earth is deserving of love and connection!

I’m stoked to be a part of the Cathexis Talent team due to their focus on volunteer work and giving back to our community. I have volunteer experience teaching children with disabilities how to snowboard through the National Sports Center for the Disabled at Winter Park. I’ve also recently volunteered for Adventure Club through Jefferson County as a supervisor for youths in the foster system. Through adventure club, youths are able to foster a relationship with the great outdoors and get engaged in activities such as hiking, camping and fishing. I believe that being of service is so important to our communities and for one’s own personal development.

Beyond, social work, I have had experience working with A+ student staffing agency throughout college and would love to get back into promotional modeling and work as a brand ambassador for forward thinking sustainable products. I’ve also worked in festivals such as SXSW and Bonnaroo and have excellent skills in engaging customers sales. Furthermore, throughout my undergrad studies, I’ve worked as a server at a sushi restaurant and as a barista in a coffee shop/bubble tea café. I love utilizing different skillsets, playing different roles, and wearing various hats. Throughout middle school and high school, I loved performance art (acting, dancing) and was involved in show choir as a soprano II. My inner child has led me to Cathexis Talent to feed my curiosity for acting and performance, and I am excited to develop new skills in front of a camera. I am a quick learner, always have a positive attitude and eager to try new experiences/opportunities. Thank you so much for reading and hope to connect with you on a project in the future!
