Delano

Delano Cook was born in Kansas City, Missouri, where his father spurred his sports journey by enrolling him in football, baseball, and basketball at a young age. At age fourteen, Delano left Kansas City for California, where he fed his passion for football and sharpened his skill in it on the varsity team at Carson High School. Coupled with his academic success, his success on the football field quickly led to offers of Division One scholarships.

Meanwhile, Delano was developing new interests outside of sports: he enrolled in the high school Drama Club, where he got his first taste of acting, improv, and the entertainment industry. He participated in the school’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and starred as Scrooge in A Christmas Carol; outside of school, Delano attended casting call events and Hollywood talent shows. Eager to gain real-world experience in the entertainment industry, Delano worked as an extra on the sets of Hollywood movies, including Semi-Pro, Hancock, and High School Musical. Through these experiences, Delano discovered that his love for entertainment could find embodiment on the stage as well as on the football field.

While working on an Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences and Liberal Arts from Los Angeles Harbor College, Delano continued to act in theater programs. He then moved to Colorado, where he played football for Adams State University while earning a Bachelor’s in Education. After completing his collegiate career, Delano played football professionally in Vancouver for the British Columbia Lions in 2015.

Perhaps the most crucial piece of Delano’s story has been his commitment to giving back through community service. During high school, he participated in Scared Straight programs, which gave him the opportunity to speak with middle-school children about the legal and judicial system. Later, after graduating from Adams State, Delano became licensed as a mental health counselor so that he could work with kids in juvenile centers, as well as with adults in recovery centers. With this licensure, Delano has been able to give back to underserved communities, and especially to their children, by working in the mental health centers of Denver.

Throughout his career, Delano’s lifelong passion for entertainment has found an outlet in front of the camera: his first experience as a fitness model was back in the early 2000’s, when he worked with Damani Dada Clothing, a popular brand that was endorsed by professional athletes like Latrell Sprewell and Chris Webber. More recently, Delano modeled athletic wear in East Bay Magazine; featured in the July 2017 issue of ART DECADES MAGAZINE; brand modeled in 2017 for Imadri, a clothing company out of Los Angeles, California; modeled for Sonora Photography in 2017; Wilhelmina; and brand modeled for the 2018 NOH8 campaign.

As he continues to move up and grow his career with CatheXis Talent Agency, modeling and building his brand, Delano is also returning to the world of acting. No matter where his path takes him, he constantly continues to use his platform to give back to his community.
