SUMMARY:My Dear Protégé - Feature Film (March 2026\, CA) - Pay $400-786/day
DESCRIPTION:My Dear Protégé – Feature Film \nAn ambitious young actress\, Evie\, forms a creative and emotional bond with her mentor\, David\, a visionary but manipulative film director. As her fame eclipses his\, he subtly sabotages her\, unable to let go of control. \n  \nDate: March 2026 \nLocation: California \nSubmissions Due January 2026 -> Email or DM you updated IMDBpro link to Leenda@cathexistalent.com to be submitted. \n  \nRoles: \n\nWill (Lead) Male 25-35. Seeking an actor to play the role of Will McGrath (Boom Operator\, early 30s) — Loyal\, calm\, and quietly protective\, Will is the crew’s steady anchor amid the chaos. He looks out for everyone—especially Evie—with a quiet devotion that goes beyond duty. A listener in a world full of noise\, he absorbs more than he shares\, his quiet loyalty becoming both his strength and his burden as the lines between care\, control\, and complicity start to blur. Approximately 20 film days. LEAD MAIN SUPPORTING (Pay $784/day)\n\n \n\nKlaus (Supporting) Male 25-35. Seeking an actor to play the role of Klaus Wilder (Gaffer\, later 20s–30s) — Brilliant\, eccentric\, and impossible to rattle\, Klaus is the kind of lighting genius who treats every setup like philosophy. His humor is bone-dry\, his coffee always cold\, and his patience legendary. Beneath the sarcasm\, though\, is a deep loyalty to the crew—he protects them in his own way\, using wit to diffuse tension and precision to keep order when everything else is coming apart. Known for turning chaos into atmosphere\, Klaus lights the madness beautifully but never lets anyone forget how dangerous the fire really is. Approximately 15-20 film days. MAJOR SUPPORTING (Pay $480/day)\n\n  \n\nFinn (Supporting) Male 18-30yo. Seeking an actor to play the role of Finn Shaw (Camera Assistant\, 20s) — Eager\, kind\, and quietly ambitious\, Finn is the youngest member of the crew and wears his heart on his sleeve. He cares deeply for the people around him—always the first to help\, to listen\, to make someone laugh when things get tense. His optimism and warmth soften the edges of a hard set\, but that same empathy makes him vulnerable to the darker undercurrents he doesn’t yet understand. Loyal to a fault\, Finn wants everyone to be okay\, even when the camera keeps rolling on things that aren’t. Approximately 15-20 film days. MAJOR SUPPORTING (Pay $460/day)\n\n \n\nSam (Supporting) Male 26-42.Seeking an actor to play the role of Sam Rudd (Sound Mixer\, late 20s – early 40s) — Calm\, steady\, and quietly protective\, Sam is the backbone of the sound department and one of the crew’s most trusted figures. He carries the same composed energy off set as he does on—measured\, dependable\, and always present. Protective by instinct\, especially toward Will\, Sam watches over the team with quiet vigilance. His loyalty runs deep\, and his calm steadiness becomes the anchor everyone leans on when the work\, or the people\, start to fracture. Approximately 15-20 film days. SUPPORTING (Pay $460/day)\n\n\n \n\nCameron (Supporting) Male 27-39 Seeking an actor to play the role of Cameron Briggs (Camera Operator\, 30s) — Focused\, grounded\, and quietly thoughtful\, Cameron sees the world in composition and light. He’s steady under pressure\, more comfortable behind the lens than in conversation\, but his silence carries weight—he notices what others miss. Loyal to his crew and meticulous in his craft\, Cameron works with quiet integrity\, often acting as the unspoken conscience of what the camera chooses to reveal. Though he rarely voices his opinions\, his empathy shows in how he frames people—with honesty\, patience\, and care. Approximately 15-20 film days. SUPPORTING (Pay $460/day)\n\n\n \n\nMiles (Supporting) Male 24-38.Seeking an actor to play the role of Miles Turner (First Assistant Director\, late 20s–30s) — Efficient\, composed\, and quietly authoritative\, Miles runs the set with steady precision and unwavering focus. He’s the one who keeps chaos in order\, guiding cast and crew through tension and exhaustion without losing his calm. The same steadiness follows him off set—measured\, loyal\, and grounded—but he’s not afraid to speak up when something crosses a line. Protective by nature and unshaken by ego\, Miles has earned the crew’s respect not just for his control\, but for his courage to call things out when no one else will. Approximately 15-20 film days. SUPPORTING (Pay $4560/day)\n\n  \n\nJuliet (Supporting) Female 20-30. Seeking an actress to play the character of Juliet Ross (Makeup Artist\, 20s-30s) — Gentle\, perceptive\, and quietly intuitive\, Juliet has a gift for seeing what people try to hide—on their faces and in their hearts. She brings warmth and stillness to a restless set\, using small acts of care to hold others together when words won’t. Off set\, that same empathy makes her both a confidante and a witness; she senses the fractures long before they show. Loyal and protective\, especially of Evie\, Juliet understands that the real work isn’t just fixing what’s visible—it’s tending to what’s breaking underneath. Approximately 15-20 film days. SUPPORTING (Pay $460/day)\n\n  \n\nOlivia (Supporting) Female 20-32 Seeking an actress to play the character of Olivia Monroe (Script Supervisor\, 20s – early 30s) — Precise\, intelligent\, and quietly assertive\, Olivia keeps the production from unraveling one page at a time. She has a calm\, composed presence that commands respect without raising her voice\, her focus unwavering even as chaos swirls around her. Off set\, that same steadiness turns into quiet empathy—she listens\, remembers\, and sees patterns others miss. Loyal and deeply protective of the crew\, Olivia is the quiet backbone of continuity\, both in the script and in the fragile human rhythms that hold the production together. Approximately 10-20 film days. SUPPORTING (Pay $400/day)\n\n

Broadcast=Not in the plans but if someone gives them airtime\, they will run. \n\n\nLocal talent – work as local \n\nDirection: \nSelf Tape Instructions for S.E.B. Casting: National Forest Foundation Step 1 Record a slate
If a family: Start with a shot of the whole family together. This will be a wide shot – that’s ok! Then please go to a medium-close shot of each family member and state your name\, age and location. This can be one continuous\, sort of going down the line kind of thing\, or individual clips edited together to form one clip. If individual: Please start with a nice medium-close shot\, state you name\, height and location – state your age if you are under 18. Thanks! Example video https://vimeo.com/472780332 Step 2 Record the audition piece. Lighting; make sure you are lit from the front. Stay away from back lighting and do not record in front of an open window. Find a blank wall if possible\, take down as many things on the wall behind you as you can.
Sound; try and make it as quiet as possible. Turn off sound makers like phones and electronics\, put them cute doggies away Stable camera; place your camera/phone on a tripod or stable surface like a table or stacked books on a table. Get your camera eye level.
If you are using your phone (which is totally fine) turn it on it’s side so you are recording in ‘landscape’ format\, the same shape as your widescreen TV. [we view your auditions on computers\, when you record ‘vertical’ phone style we see lots of black space on the sides\, not full screen.] FAMILIES: This project is all about your relationship with each other and with nature. Specifically\, your relationship with forests. We want to get a sense of what you like to do TOGETHER in nature. We would like you to tape yourselves as a family unit. Tell us a story about an outdoor adventure you shared together. Parents\, we really want to see you interacting with the kiddos\, so feel free to start the story and then get the kids to fill in details. No need to “act” out any scenarios. We really want to know you and see your personalities. Please dress casually\, like you would to go hiking or camping\, but nothing costume and please no “gear” like fishing vests or binoculars or backpacks. Keep it real and keep it simple. If you can get outside to tape – that rocks!!! Even if it is just in your backyard. INDIVIDUALS: Please tell us about your favorite outdoor adventure – bonus if it was in the woods! EXAMPLE TOPICS FOR EVERYONE: (you do NOT have to do all or even any of these. They are suggestions) Do you remember that time we went camping together? Do you remember what kinds of things we did? What was it like to sleep in a tent? Was it hard to set up camp? Do you remember what we ate? Who cooked…how did they cook? Was it good? What kinds of things did we do around the campfire? (Sing/smores/ghost stories…) What is your favorite memory from the trip/hike/adventure? Etc. OR I would love to hear tales about favorite hikes.. Silliest things the parents did…What kind of things did you find? Did you collect anything (rocks\, feathers\, etc). What kind of animals did you see? What is your favorite memory in the outdoors? What is the coolest thing you have ever seen? What brings you peace? Also…do you have a family dog? Do you like dogs? If so…does your dog come on hikes or camping? Where does your dog sleep when camping? ***If you have a dog you want to include in the tape…please do!!!!! The main thing is to be your wonderful\, natural selves – even if that self is a little quirky or silly or serious or whatever you authentically are! Less structure is good! Way better than stiffly sitting in a row and saying something rehearsed. Be spontaneous and let the conversation and interaction flow. Also\, we want to hear from every member of the family\, not just mom! heh heh! As a mom\, I can say that! ;o) IMPORTANT NOTE: If you are a family auditoning together\, please ONLY auditon the members of your family who fit the casting specs!! No additional family members\, please. Thanks!!! Example video https://vimeo.com/472781431 PLEASE NOTE!!!! We will be viewing self tapes as soon as they upload. The sooner you can get this in\, the better. Don’t wait till the last minute! Thanks!! Step 3 Trim your videos and export.
This is simpler than it sounds but it does take a little bit of practice. You can use your phone\, computer or third party app. Trim the beginning and end of your videos so we see only your slate and auditions. You do not have to do any major editing of your videos and PLEASE\, do not add any title cards\, cross fades or effects. This is NOT necessary and often distracts from you\, your acting and takes up precious time. Step 4
Label and send. Please put your name and role on the file instead of just a bunch of numbers and letters assigned by your phone or computer. Something like John Doe_Mystery Man.mov would be great. Then upload it to your media request. Please separate your takes into individual files so you don’t exceed the file size limit for uploading. Simply label it like this: John Doe_Mystery Man_Tk1.mov Have fun and break a leg!!! \n
